Who Does This Performance Benefit?
We provide empowerment programs to San Diego women who are rebuilding their lives from domestic abuse, addiction, and homelessness.
The YWCA of San Diego County, fiscal sponsor for Leap to Success, helps women, children, and families escaping domestic violence and homelessness overcome trauma, rebuild their lives, and achieve self-sufficiency.
What is V-Day?
A global activist movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler's award winning play The Vagina Monologues and other artistic works.
What Impact Does V-Day Make?
In 2011, over 5,800 V-Day benefit events took place produced by volunteer activists in the U.S. and around the world, educating millions of people about the reality of violence against women and girls. The V-Day movement has raised over $85 million and educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it, crafted international educational, media and PSA campaigns, launched the Karama program in the Middle East, reopened shelters, and funded over 13,000 community-based anti-violence programs and safe houses in Democratic Republic Of Congo, Haiti, Kenya, South Dakota, Egypt, and Iraq.

The world will change when the powerful and delightful way we see
ourselves as women, expands outward to others. It deeply rewarding for
me to envision this. Being in the show expands my life experience and I’m having a blast!

I am excited to be part of the voice for women, for making a difference,
as a board member for two organizations that are about changing the world one girl at

production allows me to pursue two of my passions!
Actress: DENISE YAMADA
As a personal development and executive coach, my purpose and
passion is to empower and enlighten people—and I see my participation in the Vagina

Actress: JESS JOHNSON
It's my second year being a talking vagina and I LOVE that I get to help give voice to the powerful and moving stories of women around the world. To me this show demonstrates the massive impact created by our individual and collective willingness to speak boldly, to listen compassionately, to feel fearlessly, to laugh unapologetically, to be seen in our most vulnerable moments, and to heal over and over again.
Actress: P. SHEKINAH PERKINS
Appearing in Vagina Monologues is my personal effort to support the need and dire urgency of programs such as Leap to Success. Empowered women create empowered children and communities. All of these women are me!
DOORS WILL OPEN ONE HOUR BEFORE SHOWTIME – 1:00 pm for the 2:00 pm show and 6:00 pm for the 7:00 pm show. Since most seats are general admission, arrive early to get the best seats. If you have reserved seating, tell the ushers that you are in a reserved group under the name on your reservation.

This is the 10th time I've been involved with this production, and I keep coming back because of the personal growth, community involvement, and inspirational global movement. I haven't found any other experience that fulfills all my passions and dedications: creativity, social activism, female sexual empowerment, education, community building, and hell of a lot of fun!
Actress: CAREY HARDY
There is incredible power when women assemble together, a force that when used productively, can change the world. It is such a pleasure to be apart of that change and service to the empowerment and healing of women on the planet.

INSIDE THE POTIKER THEATRE
What does being in The Vagina Monologues mean to you?
Actress: SASHA CLINES
This is my second year performing in the Vagina Monologues. This year I am honored to be performing My Vagina is My Village, which expresses the war crime of rape in Bosnia and Kosovo. My mom is 100% Serbian and her father was from Bosnia. Being ½ Serbian I feel like this story runs through my veins and I feel so humbled to share their stories, which I feel are authentically my story too.
What does being in The Vagina Monologues mean to you?
Actress: ALEX APOSTOLIDIS
As a mother it is my wish that my daughter grows up in a world where women no longer live in fear, where women all around the world are recognized as equal and important members of society and most importantly where men and women alike rise up against sexual discrimination, genital mutilation and rape. It is my dream that we ALL become aware that even joking about rape perpetuates violence towards women. I long for the day when violence towards women is no longer tolerated by ANYONE. The Vagina Monologues is not just a play, it's a movement. I am proud to be a part of this movement.
